Stefaan De Croock (1982) alias Strook is a Belgian contemporary artist who is known for his recycled wood sculptures.  The artist now revealed a new installation in Creutz & Partners´ headquarters. Entitled »Everyone Has A Story«, the artwork is comprised of different wood types that the artist collected carefully. Hundreds of years old weathered wood from the roof of the Saint Bavo´s Cathedral in Ghent, from the Leopold Barracks in Ghent, from an old naval minesweeper for the royal navy, from the Imperial Shipyard in Gdańsk and from old doors found in flamish houses, monasteries and factories form this powerful work.

»Every piece tells a unique story but all those stories form one human silhouette. It’s a metaphor as we are all an entity made up of different stories that shape us to who we are. That’s why I never alter the materials I find. In real life, people try to hide their scars but I see the beauty in them. They are part of everyone’s unique story of becoming human. «

»Everyone Has A Story« is located next to an artwork of Vhils (Summer 2020) in the hallway of Creutz & Partners headquartes in Beiler,  which connects the so called »Jungle« with the backoffice team of Creutz & Partners. For the first time, Strook created a sculpture (240cm x 196cm) which consists of not only one but of two »scrap wood faces«.
